Office Gossip

Oh, Dear Reader.

I'm feeling a little down today. Sure it's nice having friends and new hires, but things can turn on you so fast. Guess who's no longer welcome in his own bed? Me.

Maybe you even saw it coming: Big Mickey and Bernice. I came down from the office yesterday and guess what I found. This:

Bernice mauling Big Mickey on my bed. "Bernice!" I shouted. "Get off of Big Mickey!"

The two of them sat up abruptly, and I could tell right away that Big Mickey didn't mind being mauled. By Bernice, that trollop, with her tags all hanging out.

"What's going on?" I asked, hopefully. "Did you fall over?"

Silence was the reply I got. And embarrassed looks.

"Oh, I see," I said. "I see how it is."

And that's how it is dear reader. It's not the three musketeers any more. It's Big Mickey and Bernice. And me.

I've been keeping busy. I have other things to do than hang out with them.

But, it does hurt to see my bed taken over in such a manner.

And to not even be noticed when I walk into the room.

I think I might find a new bed to sleep on for a while. Even the weasels would treat me better than this.

Your forlorn
Friend,
Mickey

Abashed

Hello Readers,

I'm feeling a little abashed, which is what happens when you combine bashful and ashamed.

It's been a terribly long time since I last posted, and I know how much my multitudes of readers count on me for practical tips and general wisdom.

I was going to stage a photo and tell you that I was stuck between the mattress and the headboard for all this time, but you deserve better than that, devoted reader. The truth of the matter is that I was enjoying my new house. It's so lovely here! And generally hanging out with Bernice and Big Mickey.

"Where is Harriet?" you ask. Well, don't worry: she has a chair all to herself where she is less jostled. You know her condition.

Business at Harriet and Mickey has been somewhat slow, as a result, but we hope to pick up the pace here. Annie is at work on a shower curtain design that's based on the weasels' artwork. Here is the overall pattern:

And here is the first block print, carved out of rubber. They are very fun and easy to carve. It feels like carving cheese, really.

And that is all, devoted reader, for now.

Until next week,
I remain,
your friend,
Mickey

Help

Oh readers,

I can think of nothing to write about today. I spent a miserable weekend at the bottom of a basket of stuffed animals. Illiterate riff raff. Can you spot me wedged between the grinning idiot tiger and gorilla?

My spirits are dashed. With Annie away on an important business meeting, I was left to the whims of two weasels and their unobservant guardian. I don't even know what the weather was like.

Thankfully Annie rescued me and restored me to my proper place and gave me a bourbon neat to revive me. Here I am with a couple of friends-- Bernice, the pig, and Big Mickey. We call him that because he looks like me, but we're not related.

I hope to have more to offer you next week.

Your friend, in suffering and in happiness,
Mickey
